How I raise my hubscore

I'm still learning and fairly new at this whole Hubpages thing, but one thing I have learned by the two weeks of experience I have (at the time of this writing) is how I managed to get my score up to the high eighties pretty quickly. There are four major components to my effort: commenting on other's hubs, following other hubbers, answering questions and linking to my hubs from my blog.

When I leave a comment at a hub I try to show that I've read the hub by leaving a comment that includes a salient point related to the hub. I try to be generous with my vote-ups and flags (where warranted) so that I too can earn the vote-ups and flags. Usually I explicitly state the vote in the comment saying something like: "...and so the quality of your hub earns you both a vote up and an awesome." What I have also done occasionally is offer a correction if I notice a grammatical or spelling error in the hub. Other times I will email the correction(s) to the author so that the corrections aren't public on the hub's comments. By leaving these quality comments and offering help, I hope to encourage these hubbers to come back to my hubs which increases my traffic and thus increases my score.

I will start an hour long session of reading by going to the Hubs-latest and checking out the most recent hub. I would leave a comment at that hub, and then check out a few other hubs from that same author, also leaving a comment at each one. After I've read three to five hubs from a hubber I usually come to a decision - do I like the writing style of that hubber? Am I interested in the hubs they are writing? If the answers are yes, or even somewhat-yes, I follow them. I do this in the hopes that they follow me, and then I follow through. For each new hub that they post, I go to read it and comment. By doing this I hope that with each new hub I write, they will come to visit and comment. This raises my score because of the traffic I get. Once I've done this for the person who wrote the most recent hub I go back to the latest hubs and repeat the above procedure for the second most recent hub, and then so on until the hour is up.

I go to the Answers section of hubpages and sort by latest to view only the most recent questions. I try to look for the questions that haven't been answered yet, or have only one or two answers so that the person who asked the question will be paying closer attention to your reply as compared to a question that already has dozens of replies. I answer the question and then read and leave comments at the most recent hub of the person who asked that question, and then at three or four other hubs of that person. If I like what I read from that person and their hubs interest me, I follow. Doing this gives me points for answering the question, points for leaving comments and quite possibly points for expanding my follow list.

I have been blogging since 2005, and while I do not have a very large following, I have a loyal following. With the really easy 'blog this' button that sends a link to my blogger.com blog, I can publish each hub I write with significant ease. I'd like to thank my blog readership here for supporting me in my hub-writing. Their few visits to my hubs give me some extra points for visits from people who are external to hubpages.
